How many steps does it take to change a light bulb? If your answer is 10 or more, then you’re ready for “Contraptions” – a game where the goal is to fix quirky contraptions that perform simple tasks in elaborate, Rube Goldberg-style ways.

Use camels as trampolines, champagne bottles as cannons, balloons to lift objects, fireworks wheels to drive conveyor belts, magnets to attract metal objects, and myriad other gadgets to solve puzzles and progress through levels.

Gameplay

Each level contains objects and monsters. The objective is to eliminate all monsters by constructing a chain reaction that involves repositioning, flipping, or connecting objects according to physics.

Start with time frozen, allowing you to arrange and connect elements without interference. Once configured, release the mechanism by pressing the Play button and observe the outcome. If unsuccessful, you can pause and adjust your setup.

Gadgets

Various gadgets require different activation methods. Some operate independently, while others need connection to function. For example:

  • Conveyor belts require engine connection via a belt
  • Laser guns need trigger activation via a rope and moving object

Objectives

Clear levels by removing monsters through creative chain reactions:

  • Push monsters off platforms
  • Dislodge ropes to drop heavy objects onto monsters
  • Activate laser guns using connected ropes and triggers
  • Ignite rockets to eliminate monsters in their path

Solutions often involve multi-step processes. For example, to shoot a laser at a monster, you might need to:

  • Connect a rope from the laser trigger to a rocket
  • Ignite the rocket to pull the rope
  • Activate the laser to eliminate the monster

Puzzles increase in complexity as you progress, encouraging creative problem-solving and experimentation.
